Happy New Year!

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

Not even rain can stop the people of Tañong, Malabon from celebrating New Year’s Eve. The tradition of building life-size paper mache of famous cartoon character still continued and then paraded the streets of Tañong, Malabon. And, at the strike of 12 midnight, this paper mache will be blown up to pieces using firecrackers.

Christmas Day photos at San Bartolome Church Malabon

Friday, December 26th, 2008

Yesterday was a good day for street photography, mainly because there are a lot of people out there, mostly children. And, people don’t mind to be photographed =)

While tempting, I can only take a few shots as I have to continually watch my two kids as they ran across the busy crowd at the San Bartolome Church. Here are some photos:

Ice Cream Vendor
Kid staring at the fish
an Orchid
On the phone
Some children do not get to celebrate christmas...
Multi-colored chicks
Waiting at the nipa hut

Perya (Carnival) - Photo Project

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Back in the old days, when the only means of entertainment is the Nintendo Family Computer, the Betamax and all sorts of physical activities like habulan, siato, tumbang preso, luksong tinik, etc. The one thing most of the kids my age look forward to is the Perya (Carnival). Every Christmas and Fiesta, me and my friends would visit the local plaza on a daily basis and spend our evening inside the Perya.

Now, looking back, the place is not the same. In a way it has become sad. Yes there are still happy faces, but, by walking around and spending time with the place again, I can tell that it has lost something…

Photos from the Sea, Malabon and Navotas

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

When I shoot photos outside, I usually allow myself to wander around a certain place. I’ve been coming back and forth in the Navotas Centennial Park, there are a lot of good subjects there if you allow yourself to be patient, and I guess same goes with any other place.
